Jasper was better. It's an active, outdoors community and doesn't put on so many airs.
The first thing we saw after checking in. Later, when we asked the ranger about it, she said it really was used at one time but was obsolete now.
They leave many dead trees standing for the wildlife.

Our campsites were nicely spaced and arranged in loops with natural vegetation in the center. It was beautiful.
The usual trip to the Visitor Center and the usual suspects.
One of the best rangers on the trip so far, Paul, answered our questions about plants and places. He showed us an article featuring him in the local newspaper.
There must be tons of little cones since they use them as mulch in the landscaping.
Canada seems light-years ahead of us in terms of recycling. This is in a residential neighborhood.
These were in the campground. Notice in the close-up that a section is labeled "Tetra".
We saw elk constantly in our campground. When it's time to calve, they move where there are people because the predators avoid people. The moms are a little stressed but the survival rate much higher. The park makes sure that people know this and maintain a respectful distance.
Since you depend on us for bakery recommendations, here is a good one. We liked the Bear's Paw Bakery in town and had coffee and muffins one morning. We also took some with us. You just never know when you'll find a decent bakery again!
