MUSEUM OF NORTHERN BRITISH COLUMBIA, MAY 22nd
We knew there would be many museums this trip and were eager to get into our first one. It has an outstanding reputation. According to our Moon Handbook, "Exhibits trace the history of Prince Rupert from the 5000 year-old Tsimshian settlements through the fur-trading days to the founding of the city in 1914 as the Western terminus of the Grand Trunk Pacific Railway".
The beautiful displays of the artifacts of the Coast Tsimshian natives were well lighted and labeled. They showed a history of daily living, potlatches and trade.
Linda always spends the most time looking at the baskets.
Fortunately, they're not for sale.
Black argilite carvings.
Carole, of course, found the story and equipment of a local, family-owned photography company absolutely fascinating.
great museum! i liked the carvings-good photography, Carole!I will add that stop to my trip plan!
